
Some parts of the country could see temperatures reaching up to 29 degrees on Friday, reports Breaking News.
A high-temperature warning from Met Éireann will begin at 12pm for 14 counties and will expand to include the entire country on Saturday.
The Department of Agriculture has also released a red alert due to an extreme risk of gorse and forest fires, which will remain in effect until Monday, reports Breaking News.
It noted that hot and dry conditions are expected to persist over the weekend, significantly increasing the likelihood of forest fires.
The department urged visitors to public outdoor spaces to follow all fire safety guidelines and avoid lighting open fires or using barbecues in wooded areas, reports Breaking News.
Met Éireann said Friday will be “sunny, dry and very warm”. Some cloud cover may appear at times in the west and northwest, but the rest of the country will remain dry.
Temperatures will be well above the norm, reaching between 25 and 28 or even 29 degrees. There will be widespread sunshine into the evening and continued dry conditions. Overnight, it will stay very mild with lows of 14 to 17 degrees, reports Breaking News.
Saturday is expected to bring “another very warm day”, according to Met Éireann.
Temperatures will climb to between 26 and 29, possibly even 30 degrees, with the hottest areas being inland and away from coastal regions. Some cloud may develop in western areas, but conditions will remain mostly dry, with light southerly winds, reports Breaking News.
Saturday night will see temperatures falling only to between 14 and 17 degrees.
The warm and mild weather is set to last through the weekend, but more changeable and cooler conditions are forecast to arrive next week, reports Breaking News.
