Irish retailers are reportedly seeking to open before lockdown is over to make up for lost profits

Irish retailers are reportedly seeking to open before lockdown is over to make up for lost profits.

Retailers also say that, if they open in early December as scheduled, the queues can grow to unmanageable levels.

Stores are also reportedly considering the possibility of opening 24h to facilitate shopping in the run-up to Christmas.

Though Covid-19 numbers have decreased over the past couple of weeks, there are concerns of another hard resurgence of the virus if stores open too early, particularly as Christmas shoppers would go on en masse.
