Homelessness among Irish people is once again at record levels with more 10,500 people living rough or in emergency accommodation while the government has instructed local authorities across the country to focus efforts on housing the never ending inflow of refugees.
Across the country, County Council’s are working overtime chasing down accommodation for Ukrainian refugees while refugees from other countries also continue to flow into the country in growing numbers.
The unprecedented, Herculean effort to house Ukrainian refugees stands in stark contrast to the government’s efforts to solve the homelessness crisis or alleviate the shortage of social housing or inflated price of property keeping private buyers without homes.
As the cost of living continues to sky rocket and with the government being increasingly blatant in their disregard and apparent contempt for the hard pressed Irish citizen, it may be only a matter of time until patience with the country’s political class finally comes to an end.
