Some envelopes containing shotgun ammunition have recently been posted to the Irish Water head office in Talbot St. in central Dublin.

Elsewhere, a man was arrested in Co. Clare after brandishing a weapon in front of Irish Water workers. Though it was first reported that the weapon had been discharged, this is now believed to be untrue. The man was released without charge, and a file will be sent to the DPP.

And some post offices have received bomb threats if they handle Irish Water bills.

Water chaos continued last night when the Taoiseach was received by heckling and shouting at a Fine Gael event in Roscommon as he attempted to enter Regan’s pub. He was also met with protests while inside the premises.

Security for Irish Water offices and staff, and also for Cabinet members is now due to be stepped up after the threats.
