Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney said today that Irish Water will not be abolished.
The Minister says that his comments last week were misconstrued. Irish Water will not be scrapped and Fine Gael will not compromise on its core principles during negotiations to form a government.
Minister Coveney believes Irish Water is a core principle at the heart of the Fine Gael government and spoke about abolishment claims in a statement.
“I think my comments were totally misconstrued last week.
“Fine Gael is not compromising on a series of core principles if we are going to be in Government.
“One of those is around Irish Water and water charges.
“Irish Water is not going to be abolished, water charges are not going to be abolished.”
