Irish weather expert announces return of BBQ weather for two days only

The Irish meteorologist has pointed out the days when we can expect the weather to return to the barbecue weather, reports The Mirror.

Temperatures could reach as high as 26C next week, despite a hot weekend with the arrival of Storm Antony.

However, the sunny spell will only last for two days – Wednesday and Thursday – before the unsettled weather returns.

Alan O’Reilly, who runs the Carlow Weather Twitter account, wrote: “Get the BBQ and ice-cream ready for our two day weather special coming this Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures up to 26c. But when it’s gone, it’s gone,” reports The Mirror.

This comes after severe flooding from yesterday’s Storm Anthony forced many families to leave their homes in Clontarf.

The Dublin Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the aid of residents of Clontarf on Saturday who were trapped by flooding following Met Éireann’s weather warning for heavy rain.

Emergency services arrived at the scene this morning in the Auburn Apartments and Castle Court estates after homes and cars were damaged by water.

Eight residents were immediately evacuated by firefighters trained in water rescue. The basement of the tenement house was flooded and the electricity was cut off, reports The Mirror.

Firefighters from North Strand and Phibsboro assisted in the rescue effort. The DFB also confirmed that they were dealing with the flooded basement of an apartment block.

The incessant rain also disrupted Irish Rail services on Saturday morning. Services between Killester and Clontarf Road were suspended due to flooding but resumed shortly before 1pm.
