An Irishman is reportedly in critical condition in hospital following a road traffic incident in Malta.
According to TMV, the man aged in his 60s was seriously injured after he was struck by a Mercedes Smart car in Sliema, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It is understood the man who has since been taken to hospital was struck by the car at approximately 1am.
Police investigating the incident say they have taken a 30-year-old man into custody after he failed a breathalyser test following the accident.
It is thought the victim sustained serious injuries when he slid of the window of the vehicle and hit is head off the pavement.
