After reportedly confessing to killing an American tourist and concealing her body next to a lake, an Irishman was detained on suspicion of killing her in Hungary, reports Breaking News.
According to Hungarian police, Mackenzie Michalski, who is from Portland, in the US state of Oregon, was last seen with the 37-year-old man in a Budapest nightclub.
The man, who was spotted with her at many nightclubs on the night of her abduction, was later taken into custody by police, reports Breaking News.
The suspect, a 37-year-old Irish national, has reportedly confessed to killing Ms. Michalski, according to sources in the US media. He allegedly then revealed to the police where he had concealed her corpse.
The individual told authorities that he murdered Ms. Michalski in a “intimate encounter” and that it was an accident.
Her corpse was allegedly discarded by him close to a wooded area, reports Breaking News.
His online search history, according to police, also included questions about whether pigs eat dead corpses, if there are wild boars around Lake Balaton, and procedures in missing person cases.
According to the US State Department, the US embassy is in contact with Hungarian police and is aware of allegations that a suspect has been detained by Hungarian authorities in connection with Ms. Michalski’s death.
“Deeply saddened to confirm a report published by Hungarian police announcing the death of our beloved Kenzie,” said Michalski’s family and friends in a statement posted on Friday, reports Breaking News.
