Is Dublin safe? Woman arrested after garda viciously assaulted in Dublin

A woman has been arrested after attacking a security guard in Dublin last night, reports RTE.

The incident occurred after Gardaí stopped a vehicle carrying two people while carrying out active patrols in the Basin Street area at around 8.45pm.

During the incident, one of the gardaí was attacked before the two occupants of the car fled on foot, reports RTE.

The injured security guard, a man in his 20s, received medical treatment following the incident and his injuries are not life-threatening.

A woman in her thirties was then arrested and is currently detained at a police station in the city centre, reports RTE.

The car, which was reported stolen in the Dublin area earlier this month, was removed from the scene for a technical and forensic examination.

Gardaí said an investigation is underway.
