The most controversial vaccine of them all, the AstraZeneca vaccine has been given the green light to resume adminstration from today.
Some 3,500 people in Ireland aged over 75 will be given the vaccine over the weekend.
HSE boss Paul Reid said:
“This morning, as we recommence the AstraZeneca vaccine, our plan to protect some of the most vulnerable also continues,” Reid said on social media.
“Today and tomorrow, 3,700 over 75-year-olds, patients of GPs, will receive either first [or] second doses in the Helix vaccination centre,” he said.
The AstraZeneca vaccine was suspended last weekend over fears that it caused blood clots.
