The National Immunisation Advisory Committee (Niac) recently gave the green light to vaccinating children aged as young as 5 to get injected with the vaccine.

As many as 480,000 primary school children aged between five and 11 will be offered Covid-19 vaccines with the start date due for next week for those most vulnerable.

Pfizer’s own data appears to confirm that the company’s vaccine is ‘safe’ for children in the 5-11 age bracket. The safety and efficacy data has not been corroborated by any other entity or agency, just the company’s own team.

It is understood that the dosage for these children would be lower than for kids aged 12 and older.

The Pfizer compound has been associated with serious side effects, including heart inflammation, but scientists say that this is very rare.
