A hacking group claiming to be ISIS have hacked and taken down the Central College Limerick website.

In a disturbing report, we’ve received information that a message was posted on the college website which said:

“THIS WEBSITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY THE ISLAMIC STATE IN SYRIA (ISIS).”

It concluded with:
“IRELAND EXPECT US”.

The website has since been shutdown. The college has made no comment about the attack.

It is believed that gardai are currently at the college and investigating the cyber incident.

This could be a college student’s practical joke gone too far, or indeed in could be a genuine threat from the Islamic extremists.

The message was accompanied also with an ISIS flag and by a member of ISIS dressed in black with a machine gun.

We will report more as we get it, but it’s worth noting that ISIS managed to spell Syria wrong…
