The ISPCA have confirmed that six pups were rescued after they were found abandoned in a field in Co Carlow.
It is understood that the collie/lurcher pups who are believed to be just eight weeks old were found by a homeowner who discovered the pups inside a cardboard box on land behind their home.
The ISPCA say the pups were cold and hungry when they were found and a all of the pups had worms when they were found.
They also say two of the pups are very weak and they are unsure if they will recover.
The ISPCA say they are appealing for information in order to track down the pups owner and they are shocked at how the pups were heartlessly abandoned.
