Israeli Prime Minister says Israel will help Kurds fighting Turkey

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that his country will aid the Kurdish forces fighting against Turkeys invasion of Syria.

In a tweet on Thursday night the Prime Minister said

“Israel strongly condemns the Turkish invasion of the Kurdish areas in Syria and warns against the ethnic cleansing of the Kurds by Turkey and its proxies. Israel is prepared to extend humanitarian assistance to the gallant Kurdish people.”

Turkey launched a military incursion into Syria to allegedly create a buffer zone and fight what it calls “terrorist groups”.

US President Donald Trump called for restraint but said that his country will not be getting involved in anymore “endless wars” in the Middle East. He did threaten to “obliterate Turkey’s economy” should they overstep in Syria, but Turkish-Kurd animosity has existed for centuries and there are fears this incursion could escalate into a large and long-lasting conflict.
