It is officially one of the worst “summers” ever

weather

If one looks out the window and then looks at a calendar, it is hard to reconcile the two. Gale force winds, heavy showers, and frost. Frost, for crying out loud.

Apart from the odd calm day here and there, the past month of July was wet, cold, and windy pretty much everywhere. Average temperatures were one degree lower than normal across the country, with parts reporting up to two degrees lower than average.

Dublin Airport, for instance, recorded 3.9C on July 15, the lowest temperature reported for the date since 1942.

And talking about wind speeds, the averages recorded were the highest for a month of July in 27 years.

With weather misery set to continue for the rest of this week, there is very little to look forward to.
