Parisians are saying that it’s nothing short of a “miracle” that the world renowned Cathedral’s main cross and its altar remain standing completely unharmed and perfectly intact after Monday’s inferno.
Over 500 French fire fighters did their best to get the enormous flames under control. They worked throughout the night to ensure that as much of the 850-yr-old building renamed standing, intact and as damage-free as possible.
Around two thirds of the roof was burned, with the spire of the Cathedral collapsing into the building itself.
A major, major reconstruction of the Cathedral is already in the works. It will take years and millions of euro – but the French have said that they’re determined to get the best people in teh world to get the Cathedral back to exactly and precisely the way it was prior to the fire.
