“It’s not enough” – Zelensky wants Ireland to do more – wants us to convince EU to issue more sanctions on Russia

Even though the Micheal Martin, Eamon Ryan and Leo Varadkar have bent over backwards to do everything for up to 200,000 Ukrainian refugees due to arrive in Ireland over the coming weeks, the Ukrainian President wants them to do more.

Addressing the Dail this morning, Volodymyr Zelensky said Ireland isn’t neutral in relation to the conflict in the Ukraine.

He was glad that his people have been given shelter here, even though many believe Irish homeless should be sheltered first, and acknowledged the government declaring that we’ll be taking thousands of refugees.

However, he wasn’t so happy in relation to the sanctions imposed on Russia. He said that Ireland can show more leadership in their anti-war coalition.

He said he wants us to approach to EU and convince them to impose further sanctions on Russia.

However, many on social media have proclaimed that this is “not our war” and Zelenksy obviously feels that “it’s not enough” that we’re going to be forced to house some 200,000 people that aren’t Irish citizens.

What do you think? Are we doing enough or could we do more?
