Its official! Heatwave set to continue as yellow and orange status warnings to remain in place until Friday




The unusual hot weather spell that is gripping the country looks set to continue as Met Eireann have issued a yellow and orange status warnings.

In what has now been officially declared a heatwave, Met Eireann have issued an orange warning for Cavan, Monaghan, south Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford and Westmeath.

The national forecaster say temperatures are expected to surpass 30C in these counties whilst it will not drop below 20C overnight.

Meanwhile a yellow status warning has been issued for the rest of the country as temperatures are expected to be in thr mid to high 20s during the day.

They also say temperatures are expected to range between 17 to 20C overnight.
