Jaguar attacks woman after she crossed a barrier to take a selfie near the animal in Arizona zoo

A female jaguar injured a woman after she crossed a barrier to take a selfie close to the animal.

The incident happened at Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium and Safari Park in Phoenix, Arizona in recent days.

Witnesses said that the woman disregarded safety warnings and crossed a barrier to get closer to the jaguar, seemingly to take a selfie. The animal suddenly reached out with its claw through the enclosure fence and grabbed onto the woman’s hand, locking its jaws around it.

A number of other visitors at the zoo rushed to help and managed to distract the animal so it let go of the woman.

The victim was treated at the scene for non life-threatening injuries.
