Japanese Government officially acknowledgedes first death due to radiation exposure at Fukushima

The Japanese Government has confirmed that a man has died after he was exposed to radiation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

It is understood the man sadly died after he developed lung cancer after working at the plant from 2011 to 2015 in the aftermath of the devastating tsunami to hit the region.

Although numerous reports have been made in the past in regards to people developing cancer in the region near the plant, it is believed to be the first time that the Japanese Government have admitted such a case.

According to Japanese state media the man who worked at numerous nuclear power stations since the 1980s was sadly diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016.

It is reported that the man was in charge of measuring radiation at the facility which suffered a nuclear disaster following the 2011 tsunami.
