There are reports this morning that convicted killers Tom and Molly Martens have been released from federal prison today.
The pair were convicted of bludgeoning Limerick man Jason Corbett to death as he slept at his home in North Carolina on August 2, 2015. His two children were in another room in the house as this happened.
The Martens were charged with second-degree murder and sentenced to between 20-25 years in jail each. But recently, they won a legal challenge to their original trial and were granted a retrial.
It is understood that the pair were moved to Davidson County Jail on Thursday evening local time, where they’re widely expected to apply for and be granted bail.
