The Minister for Social Protection and Tánaiste Joan Burton has stated that she is not particularly concerned about Labour’s rapidly dwindling support in the opinion polls, adding that she is focused on getting on with her work and that the election is still over a year away.
Support for the Labour party currently stands at a minuscule 6%, the level it stood at right before Eamon Gilmore resigned.
Still holding on to grim hope, Joan Burton believes that by the time the next election comes around, people will ‘appreciate’ the work that Labour has done.
Perhaps the electorate will have other ideas on the matter.
