Despite a falling popular support and the general feeling that Labour will be virtually wiped out from the Irish political landscape at the upcoming election, Tánaiste and party leader Joan Burton has claimed that the party is “ready for the General Election.’

Labour are holding an annual conference in Mullingar today, where the party’s manifesto and proposals will be discussed.

In another raft of election promises, the party assured its voters that it would enact PRSI cuts for those earning up to 36,000 euro and abolish the ‘interim’ USC for those earning up to 72,000.

Ms. Burton said “We want to see more employment and more investment in health and in education, in services and in our public transport network.”
