The swine flu crisis is spreading rapidly, with five more people now in hospital in Limerick with the disease.
Three other patients, including a pregnant woman, are already being treated for the illness elsewhere in the country.
The elderly, and those with a weakened immune system due to other conditions, are more at risk during flu season.
The HSE confirmed that seven people have died from complications of flu this winter, with five of these diagnosed with swine flu.
