Regina Doherty didn’t win her seat back in the last election but she didn’t lose out. She’s landed another plum job as Leader of the Seanad.
Doherty was parachuted in by Leo Varadkar to take up the role despite the fact that she tried hard to have the Seanad abolished just a few years ago.
She’s spent the last few weeks running the department that decided which workers should get the emergency Covid payments.
Now it looks like she has a long career ahead of her running the Seanad that she tried so hard to abolish.
