According to the Irish Times, proceedings against the State and the Minister for Health were enacted with both Mr Waters and Ms O’Doherty representing themselves.

They are trying to have a number of pieces recently added legislation declared null and void by a judge of the High Court. The legislation in question are the new lockdown laws.

The IT reports that they include the 2020 Health Preservation and Protection and Other Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act, the 2020 Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (Covid-19) Act and the 1947 Health Act (Affected Areas) Order 2020.

It’s understood that Mr Waters and Ms O’Doherty’s proceedings will try and strike down the restrictions introduced by the Government.

The Judge adjourned the action for further mention next week.
