Judge refuses to allow council to remove traveller caravans from beautiful housing site

A High Court judge has refused to give effect to a decade-old order allowing Tipperary County Council to “evict” unauthorized mobile homes, caravans and animals from properties used as group accommodation for members of the traveling community.

Tipperary County Council sought permission to enforce an order requiring members of the O’Reilly family to remove several buildings from the property known as Railway Cottages, Powerstown, on the outskirts of Clonmel, on the grounds that they were in breach of Court order regulations of 2013 was violated, reports Breaking News.

This order required residents of the subject property to remove all unauthorized structures, mobile homes, campers, and animals from the property.

In 2021, the council alleged that the terms of the 2013 bylaws had been breached, alleging that three unauthorized buildings, as well as horses, dogs and chickens, were kept on the property.
