Junior Cert students to be given certificate of completion as autumn exam plans are abandoned by the Department of Education

The Minister for Education Joe McHugh has confirmed that all Junior Certificate students will be given a certificate of completion.

In an announcement made this afternoon McHugh said all students will be given the certificate after initial plans to hold exams in the autumn were abandoned.

Mini McHugh said that all schools will be given autonomy to award students the certificate if they deem it necessary.

Meanwhile adults who wish to undertake the exam can do so in the autumn.
