Just one week ago, Martin said Gavin was a wonderful candidate – claiming that he would ‘bring people together’

Just one week ago, Taoiseach Micheál Martin had said that Jim Gavin would “inspire young people and bring people together” as he launched his presidential bid as Fianna Fáil’s candidate, reports Breaking News.

Martin had highlighted Mr Gavin’s background in public service and said he brings “considerable life experience” to the role.

“We know he’s a proven innovator in life and the aspects of his life today. Fundamentally, he’s a person who has served a nation in many different capacities. And his life has been about service, on seeking to serve the people of Ireland, the highest office of the land, residency in presidency,” Mr Martin added, reports Breaking News.

And now today, just one week later, both men have their tails between their legs after Jim Gavin pulled out of the Presidential election leaving the Fianna Fail party in complete tatters.

Many in the party themselves are blaming Martin for pushing Gavin so hard, despite much opposition from party members themselves.

People are already querying when Martin will step down as he has shown blatant bad judgment yet again.
