An evil and terrifying burglary occurred in the home of Mark and Emma Corcoran at Burnchurch, near Killenaul in Tipperary in November 2013.

Their three young daughters, who were aged 8, 6, and 2, were upstairs in the house when the thugs broke in.

Judge Tom Teehan handed down the sentences at Clonmel District Court this lunchtime.

Dean Byrne, 22, of Cabra Park
and Patrick Gately, 27, of Primrose Grove in Darndale both received a sentence of 20 years in
prison, both with the last four suspended.

Mr Corcoran is a businessman who predominantly sells treadmills and various machines and supplies to gymnasiums around the country.

The terrified man was allegedly stalked for sometime with the gang knowing his whereabouts and his times of coming and going.

The night the horrendous ordeal took place, his wife Emma, managed to call 112 from her phone and left it on so gardai could ascertain what exact was happening.

The gardai heard screams of fear from the children upstairs, and Mr Corcoran being physically manhandled and yelled at.

The couple were in court today to hear the verdict. A friend of the couple told The Liberal that they feel justice has been served and that they can finally start to rebuild their lives and move forward with their children.
