Kenny: “I have no intention, none, of running for the office of Áras an Uachtaráin”




The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has revealed he has no intentions of becoming the next President of Ireland.

Mr Kenny made his remarks during his closing address at Fine Gael’s think in, the Fine Gael leader said: “I have no intention, none, of running for the office of Áras an Uachtaráin.”

“Personally, I have no interest other than being an occasional attendee, or visitor at Áras an Uachtaráin. I do not wish to be a tenant of the place.”

Mr Kenny also said he fully supports current president Michael D Higgins saying he is doing a fantastic job representing “Ireland at home and abroad”.

The question of Kenny’s presidential candidacy comes after president Higgins revealed he is undecided whether he will seek a second term as president.
