Kind-hearted builder: Pensioner reveals she cried after a kindhearted builder offered to fix her roof for completely free

In a truly remarkable story a Dublin pensioner has revealed that she “cried for two days” after a kind builder offered to repair her roof for completely free.

The kindhearted builder at the centre of this goodwill story James Ormond, from Neilstown, and owns RoofingandBuilding.ie, revealed he decided to carry out the work because he wanted to give something back the community. Mr Ormond told reporters: “I just wanted to give something back.” “I thought about giving money to charity, but you hear of these big CEOs earning so much that I thought I would just help someone directly.

“I decided to ask my Facebook followers if they knew of anyone who was having a hard time and could use a bit of a hand fixing their roof or maybe needed some help with other jobs. I never expected it to go viral. “Since January we’ve helped two people and we’re due to start on our third next week.”

Meanwhile the grateful pensioner May King (78) also revealed that she “cried for two days” after the good-natured builder offered to repair the roof of her home in Ranelagh. The overjoyed pensioner said her home was in such a bad state that the walls of her bedroom and bathroom had become damp.

Mrs King granddaughter Lynn Cahill told reporters: “My granny May lives on her own and she has done so for 22 years since my granddad died.” “She’s always done everything for everyone. “About 10 years ago problems starting popping up with her roof and the bathroom in the extension began to leak. “Over the years the damp and mould drifted upstairs to the back bedroom, and the bathroom wall has become completely rotted. “A few weeks ago I came across James’ page on Facebook and I thought it was too good to be true that a builder would be offering to do something so kind.

The delighted granddaughter further explained: “I nominated my granny, and all of my friends voted and supported her. I was so delighted when James rang and told us he would help us out. My granny and I cried our eyes out for two days.”
