
After more than 50 years in operation, Ireland’s longest running matchmaking services has closed its doors after almost 1,000 successful marriages.
Knock Marriage Introductions as based at the Marian Shrine in Co Mayo and was started in 1968, running for some successful 51 years.
The Knock Marriage Bureau was set up for single people to meet each other from across the country.
It’s understood that the demand had dropped to a level where the bureau no longer need to operate. Online dating and apps more than likely played a part in this.
Overall however, the bureau was a major success providing 960 marriages or around 19 a year since it started.
