It’s the case that’s gripped the nation for months – but there’s still no resolution as to what happened.
When the Irish Mirror contacted Kyran Durnin’s mother, she had nothing to say regarding her son’s disappearance, reports The Mirror.
After learning that Dayla, the child’s mother, had been residing in Ipswich, England, for the previous two months, we had a conversation with her over the weekend.
The 24-year-old was photographed for the first time since the hunt for her kid was turned into a murder investigation, according to our exclusive photos of her taken on Saturday, reports The Mirror.
The child is missing and thought to be dead. He was six years old when he was last seen in June 2022.
Since October, a thorough Garda investigation has been conducted to try to determine the small schoolboy’s location, what happened to him, and who was responsible for his abduction, reports The Mirror.
On Saturday, we went to see Kyran’s mother, Dayla, 24, who was with a male friend in the town of Ipswich. He is not involved in the Kyran disappearance probe.
We also know that Dayla relocated to this town at the end of August, the same time that she and child Kyran were formally reported missing. Kyran’s disappearance was soon elevated to a murder inquiry by the Drogheda gardaí, reports The Mirror.
Over the weekend, Dayla was seen walking hand in hand with her male companion around the town of Ipswich while sporting a grey blouse, green pants, and a white body warmer.
She blended in with all the Saturday afternoon shoppers and Newcastle and Ipswich supporters who were making their way to the Ipswich Town Football Club stadium for the Premier League match versus the Magpies at 3pm, reports The Mirror.
To get to the stadium on Portman Road, which is located just outside of town, the two strolled through the pedestrian-only section of the town. Dayla and the man stopped at a mobile fast-food shop before heading into the stadium, where she ate a burger and talked to others.
We went up to Dayla to ask if she wanted to talk about the search for Kyran as they made their way to the stadium entrance for the game. Dayla immediately turned away as we introduced ourselves and attempted to hide her face under the body warmer’s hood, reports The Mirror.
Dayla refused to respond when the Irish Mirror asked her whether she had anything to say or any insight into what had transpired, given the intense public interest and worry about how Kyran got through the net.
Dayla told our reporter: “I’d appreciate it if you would go away from me. Thank you,” while the male in her company told us: “Leave her alone,” reports The Mirror.
