Emergency services were called to the hotel at approximately 1.30am following reports that two people had fallen from a significant height.

Members of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), local police, and the Spanish Civil Guard attended the scene, reports The Mirror.

Local sources suggest that the railing that collapsed was situated in an elevated part of the hotel complex.

The Civil Guard has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, reports The Mirror.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office told Mirror UK: “We are providing support to the family of a British man who has died and to the family of a British man who has been injured in Spain,” reports The Mirror.
