An estimated 20,000 people have gathered at Croagh Patrick for the annual pilgrimage up the holy mountain, where an hourly mass is held at the summit until 2pm.
The last Sunday in July traditionally marks the date to climb the Co. Mayo landmark.
Authorities have urged caution to all those in attendance, as a number of casualties due to falls and other accidents occur every year.
