Scousers have been left mystified after what has been compared to a “washed-up mammoth” and an “alien” appeared on a Merseyside beach.
The Daily Mail UK reports that the 15-foot-long creature washed up on the Liverpool beach last Wednesday d has been dubbed the “Ainsdale Anomaly”.
The decomposing animal has not been definitively identified has no head but has what was described by witnesses as fur and flippers.
The Press is awaiting information on the creature from Marine biologists at the University of Liverpool have been contacted for comment.
