Lassa Fever outbreak: One person dead and a third case now identified in the UK

One person is dead, and a third case has now been identified in the recent outbreak of Lassa Fever in the UK.

All three cases are members of the same family who recently returned from West Africa, where the disease is endemic.

Lassa Fever is usually transmitted through exposure to rat urine or feces, or to contaminated items.

There have only been eight known cases of the disease in the UK since 1980.
