The Chief Medical officer Tony Holohan has said the latest measures implemented by the Government are about protecting people and restricting the spread of Covid-19.
Speaking this evening, Holohan said the two week lockdown is being introduced in order to limit the number of people needing of hospital treatment.
He added that although we are in an early stage of the outbreak, there are some aspects that are particularly worrying.
Holohan said that he hopes the two week restriction will curb the community spread of the virus.
