Latest survey shows that over 80% of Irish people believe roads need to be repaired in order to improve road safety




According to a new survey conducted by the AA just under 80% of Irish people believe that the nations roads need to be repaired in order to improve road safety.

The latest survey comes after the Gardai recently published a new report which outlines details on how many fatalities there were on Irish roads in 2016.

The report shows that in total 188 people sadly died on our roads last year, the latest figures marked an increase of 23 from 2015, when 165 people sadly lost their lives.

Over 7,000 people took part in the survey which found that repairs to the nations roads was the highest priority amongst road users.

The survey also revealed that 92.78% of Irish people said that road safety is a “very important issue” for them this year, whilst 5.59% called it “somewhat important”.

Meanwhile the vast majority of Irish motorists said that the current issue of the spiraling cost of motor insurance should also be addressed, with just over 94% saying the issue was very important.
