No, this isn’t fake news – Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin has legitimately claimed that he’ll be Taoiseach before 2024.
The announcement, first reported by the Mirror, reflects Martin’s eagerness to have a go at the top job. He’s the only Fianna Fail leader to have failed to lead the country so far, so the desire to save face must be strong.
It must be remembered that he resided at the top table when the country went into complete and utter meltdown in September 2008.
With a disorderly Brexit looming closer, and a dire Budget to match, Martin’s revelation comes at time of uncertainty and unrest in politics.
