Leaving Certificate students will be given the option of either calculated grades or the chance to sit a written exam.
It is understood that the Government are set to announce plans this evening that will see students being given a fair option on their exams.
Under the proposals the Leaving Certificate will run in June provided it is inline with public health guidelines.
It is believed that students will be given one set a results at the end of each process, although there would be more choice in exam questions.
The new proposals will also see calculated grades handed out by the State Examinations Commission rather than teachers.
Meanwhile the Junior Certificate is once again expected to be cancelled as concerns grow over running both the Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate at the same time.
