Dubliner John Hemingway celebrated his 100th birthday on Wednesday even though he lived a very colourful life.
Having fought in the Battle of Britain, the Battle of France and the second World War, John managed to survive being shot down four times during the second World War. He was even floating in the sea for over two hours before being rescued.
He said that he enjoys life, has had a great life so far and looks back at his achievements modestly.
