It doesn’t get much worse than this – Dublin’s homeless community has grown a further 30% since February.
Men, women and children are now sleeping on park benches, doorways and hotel rooms around the capital with the Irish government on holiday.
The news comes after a protest was held outside the Civic Offices in Dublin on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking to RTÉ News, Anthony Flynn, from Inner City Helping Homeless, said the number of rough sleepers has risen 28% in past six months.
He also revealed that the charity had to assist a total of 238 people in just one night earlier this week.
The protest was held held to highlight the amount of homeless people using tents across the city which stands at 40%.
