Leo Varadkar says Sinn Fein holding rallies across the country are an “unwelcome development”

The Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar said that Sinn Fein’s decision to hold rallies across the country, starting in Cork last night were an “unwelcome development”.

Sinn Fein say that Varadkar’s comments are “hysterical”. Meanwhile hundreds of Sinn Fein supporters attended a meeting in a Cork hotel last evening.

McDonald said “the sort of hysterical reaction by Leo Varadkar will be seen as over the top and will be seen as something that’s trying to stop change”.

Meanwhile Varadkar said “These rallies are designed to be the next phase in Sinn Fein’s campaign of intimidation and bullying. We’ve seen it online and now we’re seeing this in rallies. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take it to the streets and it just goes to show that this isn’t a normal party”.
