Leo Varadkar: The current Government has made progress in the health service

He knows when the general election is going to be, but so far Leo Varadkar isn’t saying a word.

Instead, the Taoiseach has said that the current Government has made progress in the health service despite it being in a deep crisis.

It’s a very controversial topic and one in which the people of Ireland will keep in mind whenever they do eventually go to the polls.

Varadkar who was speaking on RTÉ’s This Week programme, said the Government has made positive changes in regards to addressing the current issues within the sector.

Speaking on the Radio One programme the Taoiseach said the current government added an extra 1,000 beds since 2014 and that waiting lists have come down in its time.

The Taoiseach stated that the Government introduced an extra 1,000 beds following the previous Fianna Fáil Government’s decision to cut 2,000 beds.

He added that he will outline the changes that the Government has made during the impending election campaign.
