
A “lovely, kind” young woman from County Leitrim passed away unexpectedly at the age of 19, and her tributes have been heartbreaking, reports The Mirror.
On Thursday, March 6, Leah Marie Faughnan of Cloonfinnan in Mohill unexpectedly died.
A notice shared by the teen’s family on RIP.ie states: “We are very sad to announce the death of Leah Faughnan at the age of 19 years, suddenly on Thursday 6th March 2025. Pre-deceased by her grandparents Hugh and Bernadette Faughnan, Joe Moran and cousin Kristian. Leah will be greatly missed by her heartbroken parents Gerard and Anne Marie, Sisters Katie, Sarah and Mia, Granny Mary, Uncles Jimmy, Dermot and Adrain, Aunts Michelle, Mary and Mairead,Uncles-in-law, Aunts-in-law,cousins, relatives, neighbours and Leah’s many great friends. Leah Marie’s family wish to thank you for your understanding at this difficult time,” reports The Mirror.
According to Leah’s family, anyone in mourning are welcome to donate to the SADS Foundation (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome). Young sudden cardiac death, or SADS, occurs when a person passes away unexpectedly and suddenly from a cardiac arrest but the cause remains unknown.
On Monday, Leah’s funeral took place in Annaduff’s St. Mary’s Church, and then she was cremated privately at Lakeland’s Crematorium, reports The Mirror.
Friends, neighbours, and acquaintances have paid sorrowful tribute to the unfortunate youngster, who was recalled as “a lovely girl inside and out,” following Leah’s unexpected death, leaving the local community distraught.
“Deepest sympathy to Anne Marie, Gerard, Katie, Sarah, Mia, granny Mary, Michelle, Jimmy and all the extended Faughnan and Moran families on the sudden loss of your beautiful Leah. Life is so cruel. May Leah’s gentle precious soul rest in eternal peace. I will keep you all in our prayers at this very difficult time. Fly high with the angels of heaven Leah,” one mourner said, reports The Mirror.
“We offer sincerest sympathy to Ann Marie, Gerard, Katie, Sarah, Mia, Granny Mary and the extended Moran, Faughnan and Doyle families on the very sad passing of gentle and beautiful Leah. May she rest in heavenly peace,” another added, reports The Mirror.
