The National Car Testing Service have confirmed that it will take until the end of April before all lifts at centres are fully operational.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NCT say that has conducted an extensive review of all 106 lifts at 47 test centres across the country.
In its report the NCT say they have identified that a total of 85 lifts are in need of repair.
They added that they hope to have 50% of centres operational by the end of next month, with the remaining 50% operational by the end of April.
