8-year-old Zion Harvey had to have his hands and feet surgically amputated after suffering a suffering infection as a toddler.
Now, a 40-strong team of doctors at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia performed the almost miraculous surgery, giving Zion a new start in life.
Several adults in the US have been given new arms or hands over recent years, but hospital authorities believe Zion is the youngest person to ever undergo such surgery.
It is understood the hospital waived any costs not covered by medical insurance.
After an 11-hour long operation, Zion woke up and said “feels weird, but good.”
