It has been announced this afternoon that a significant number Local Authority workers who carry out services for Irish Water have decided to vote in favor of industrial action.
It is believed the workers who work under Irish Water management have called for strike action in order to stop the privatisation of the service. Figures suggest that 91% of SIPTU members along with 84% of TEEU members have overwhelmingly voted in favour strike of action.
Representatives of both unions have said the current dispute centres around the threatened displacement of water service workers by private contractors.
